The Denver Internal Medicine Group is a clinic that strives to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients. We provide acute illness intervention and chronic disease management, as well as, prevention-based counseling and screening.
A brief history of our clinic
Our group had its beginnings in the 1940s when following World War II, the concept of several physicians working together and sharing their experiences and knowledge began to emerge. At present, we have seven physicians in our group, all Board Certified in the broad field of general internal medicine, in addition to having special expertise in the fields of endocrine diseases and diabetes, wound care and cardiovascular diseases.
Our postgraduate training includes institutions as near as the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and as distant as Karl-Eberhardt University of Tubingen, Germany. We are all actively involved in teaching responsibilities of interns and residents at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital, as well as holding clinical teaching positions at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Services we provide
First and foremost, we provide continuing medical care from adolescents to the elderly population, including the geriatric nursing home patient. The majority of our patients lives in the greater Denver metropolitan area, may be as close as a block away, but also include our neighboring states of Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming. In addition to our regularly scheduled office hours, at least one of our physicians is on call and available every night, weekend and holiday. As a convenience to our patients and to expedite results, we maintain an electrocardiograph and X-ray facilities in our office. We also provide two handicapped and seven designated free parking spaces under the building for our patients. Although a group practice, we stress an individual, one-on-one unhurried approach to health care.
When at all possible, call our office telephone number and speak to one of us for advice. If circumstances make this impractical, we would then suggest that you call a private ambulance company, preferably one based in your general area, and be taken to the emergency room at either downtown Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center or at Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital. In extremely critical situations, calling 911 is another option. However, it is important to realize that should you call 911, there will be a possibility that regardless of your request, you will be taken to another hospital with which we are not affiliated.
We have traditionally been strong advocates of preventive medicine and maintenance of wellness. In our opinion, this includes regular exercise, weight control, sensible dietary balance, avoidance of cigarette smoking, moderation in alcohol use, and periodic physical examinations with appropriate laboratory tests to monitor suspected risk factors or uncover otherwise asymptomatic and unsuspected disease conditions. We have all seen examples where discovery and early treatment of an otherwise unsuspected disease has had a significant effect on the course of that patient's life. Periodic visits with the physician are also an opportune time to review and promote a healthy lifestyle.
